ALBANY, GA (WALB) - War heroes were honored for their service to our country Sunday afternoon. Veterans were commemorated during a memorial at the Moose Lodge on Philema Road.

During the event, the anthem for every branch of the military was played, and excerpts from each war starting from World War I was read. No matter how Americans choose to do it,  the Women of the Moose say it is very important to remember those who fought for our freedoms.

"Because they are the ones who are taking care of us. And all we can do is give them our prayers, and our love. They are doing a fantastic job protecting our country and we need to remember them," Director, Peggy Griffen.

Sunday's memorial was held in conjunction with the United Service Organization.
