Albany- An American flag that flew in Afghanistan is now flying here in Albany.

At Southside Middle School there are two American flags flying half staff. The flag from Afghanistan was put up today so students could see America is fighting the war on terrorism and they don't need to live in fear.

"Very important people realize sacrifices people made to have that freedom in world today," teacher John Edwards said. "We'll go abroad if that's what we need to do."

It is the 40th flag raised in Afghanistan. The son of a substitute teacher there loaned it to the school Wednesday. He's flown 45 missions with the Air Force as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
