APD Chief signs severance package

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - City Manager Al Lott and Police Chief James Younger have signed a severance agreement that will pay the chief as much as $40,000 for his resignation.

Friday, WALB News Ten requested and received a copy of Younger's Memorandum of Understanding with the city. Under the contract, the Chief can request a lump sum cash payment equal to six months base salary.

The severance agreement gives Younger until January first to submit a formal written resignation to City Manager Al Lott.

Younger also requested his personnel file reflect the reason for the separation was his resignation and not any disciplinary or performance evaluation. Younger's resignation is effective January first.
