Brooks County rolls into playoffs with win over Albany

November 6, 2008

Albany -  The Brooks County Trojans had already wrapped up the 1-AA region title but they did not overlook their regular season finale against Albany High.

Trojans jump out to a 42-6 halftime lead over the Indians and post a 43-12 victory at Hugh Mills Stadium Thursday.

Albany High scored first.

The Tribe stopped Brooks County on a fake punt.

The Indians then converted on fourth and ten with quarterback Barry Diamond throwing a 21-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Jordan.

The point after was blocked.

It didn't matter.

Brooks quarterback Jeremy Cody took an option keeper 70 yards on the next Trojan possession for a touchdown and 8-6 lead.

An eight-yard touchdown run by Cody increased the lead to 16-6.

Running back Keith Christopher then took over.

Christopher's 47-yard run on the Trojans next possession led to the first two of straight touchdown runs for Christopher.

Brooks County is 9-1 and will host Tattnall County in the first round of the AA playoffs next week.

Albany High finishes the season 2-8.
