VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Chris Prine is the new Sheriff in Lowndes County.

Prine ran away with 25, 586 votes.

His opponent and former co-worker Freddie Taylor got 11,442 votes.

Prine won the primaries, a run-off and now general election this year. He says he can't wait to start but wouldn't mind some time off first.

"I certainly intend to go talk with all the employees at the Sheriff's Office. I'd certainly like to get out of town tomorrow. Just turn everything off and take my time for one day off anyway because it's been a long year," Prine says.

"The voters make the choice. That's the way of the process and I respect the will of the voters,"  Taylor says.

Prine has over thirty years experience in Law enforcement that's included time on the Georgia S.W.A.T. team to security detail for former president Jimmy Carter.
