ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Mardi Gras celebration in downtown Albany is going to be bigger than ever. So big, you could win a million bucks.

For the first time, Mardi Gras will be a two day event. Starting on Friday, March 6th with the First Friday celebration, and continuing on Saturday with a bike race, half and full marathons. Also, this year there will be three music stages set up and fun just for kids in Riverfront park.

Plus, 10,000 plastic turtles will float down the Flint. If the winner's turtle matches a pre-selected number, that person will win a million dollars.

Phil Cannon said, "It's going to be a huge weekend for Albany, a huge day for Albany. We had 30,000 people last year and if the weather is good this year, I bet you we're going to have 50,000 people in downtown Albany on March 7, 2009."

In January and February, a talent contest will be held over the course of four nights to select bands and other acts to perform on stage during the Mardi Gras celebration.
