Americus -- An accused killer who broke out of jail twice is on trial now in Americus. Tight security in the courtroom Monday for the trial of Ricardo Holmes.

That's because while awaiting trial, Holmes broke out of the Sumter County jail twice and vowed not to be captured alive. He's charged with raping and killing 62 year old Lavern Jackson July 19, 1999.

Holmes' attorney told jurors Holmes admits having sex with Jackson that night, but claims he did not kill her. The trial is expected to last three days.
