ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The search for a president to the Economic Development Commission must start over. The search committee had planned to recommend hiring Mike Brooks of Zionsville, Indiana to the board this afternoon.

On Tuesday night, Brooks withdrew his name from consideration. Wednesday, Brooks told WALB NEWS 10 that while Albany looked like a wonderful opportunity professionally, it wasn't necessarily the best move for his family.

Marketing Director Bárbara Rivera Holmes said, "We'll just start over. There's a great pool of candidates out there. We just have to find the right candidate, so we'll just start the search process over."

The initial goal was to select a president by November. The economic development commission will now re advertise the position.
