Athens - Georgia linebacker Darryl Gamble has been named the Football Writers Association/Bronko Nagurski defensive player of the week.
The sophomore from Bainbridge gets the national honor after registering a career-high 13 tackles and returning two interceptions back for touchdowns in Georgia's 52-38 win over LSU.
Gamble tied a Georgia, SEC and NCAA record with his two interception returns for touchdowns.
He has also been added to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy that is presented to the top defensive player in college football.
Gamble on Monday was named the SEC's defensive player of the week.
