ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County commission plans to honor the makers of the film Fireproof. At Monday's commission meeting, chairman Jeff Sinyard said the movie has a powerful message and gives major recognition to Albany and Dougherty County.

Now, he wants to do the same and honor the film makers with a Fireproof proclamation.

He said, "Having Albany as a backdrop and having Albany with all these good folks and you can just feel the compassion of the people. Think about people all over this world, when they watch that movie and enjoy it, they will see Albany, Georgia throughout that movie."

Fireproof, produced by Sherwood Films, has grossed more than $23 Million since it was released in theaters just four weeks ago.
