Albany- At least a dozen Albany based truck drivers are out of work now that Consolidated Freightways has laid off 15,000 employees. The Albany branch is closed, there is no sign up, and their phone is disconnected. Consolidated is the third largest trucking company in the nation.
While thousands are out of a job, some truckers see the layoffs as an advantage "It will be good for my company because that will mean there's 15,000 drivers not driving and all that freight not moving, so somebody's got to move it," said truck driver George Gilbert.
Consolidated Freightways has operated in the United States since 1929.
