VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A Lowndes County company has announced lay-offs.

YRC Worldwide will lay off 30 to 40 employees at its Roadway facility in Lake Park.

Roadway is a freight and logistics company that employees 300.

The company has eliminated the billing department.

All affected employees will receive a separation package. Industrial Authority administrators says they'll help them find other jobs in the area.

"You loose 42, that's tough. But you're adding 600-700 new jobs so that area will see a net positive increase in employment. We feel for those folks loosing their jobs and we look forward to finding them something else, possibly even better paying," says Brad Lofton of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority.

Home depot distribution will add 600 new jobs at their Lake Park facility in December. Another manufacturing company will be adding 70 by the new year.
