Valdosta, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta State Blazers are only returning 3 players in women's basketball this season and are still picked to finish second in their division.

Valdosta State losing seven seniors from last year's team that won 26 games...

Head Coach Kiley Hill is excited about the athleticism of his 11 new players that will wear a Blazer Uniform for the first time this season.

Leshell Mathews, Michelle Thompson and Tamika Booker are the only Blazers returning from last year's squad.

Mathews led the team in assists while Thompson led in three point shooting.

"It's always good to have a floor general and a shooter on the floor and it gives us a little balance as we carry on through this progression with so many new kids" said Hill.

The Valdosta State  team will take part in the shoot for a cure campaign again this season.

The Lady Blazers are asking for pledges for each three point basket they make.

Last year, the Lady Blazers raised more than three-thousand dollars for the Partnership Cancer Fund of Lowndes County.
