Bomb threat closes VSU building

October 21, 2008

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - University Police have cleared a building evacuated after two bomb threats at Valdosta State's University Center.

A professor found two threatening letters Tuesday morning warning of potential dangers to the University Center and the students inside.

Just after 11:00 A.M., police evacuated the building and canceled all classes for the rest of the day while K-9 Units conducted a sweep of the University Center.

"We got an alarm. We were thinking it was just another fire drill and all of a sudden this cop comes in and tells us we need to evacuate the building. There's a bomb threat," says Freshman Tina Holton.

"When I heard it was a bomb threat, I rushed out and left everything in there," adds Freshman Rodrick Golden.

The building will remain locked down until Wednesday morning.
