VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A military veteran is challenging a veteran member of Congress in Georgia's first Congressional District.
The district runs from Valdosta to the Georgia coast.
Congressman Jack Kingston has represented the District for almost 16-years.
Democratic challenger Bill Gillespie served a 23-years in the army.
The candidates have different ideas on what direction to take the country.
"I support offshore drilling for oil because I think we need to use American Oil, he does not. I did not support the recent bailout, he supports it vigorously. I support education, he wants to abolish no child left behind so we have our differences," Kingston says.
"Politically, Mr. Kingston is extremely conservative. I'm a moderate. Our district has lots of needs. If you are that conservative and that partisan, can you really bring what Georgians need?" says Gillespie.
No matter who you support, the only way to make a difference is to get out and vote.
Early voting ends on the 31st.
Election day is Tuesday November Fourth.
