Albany - Mitchell County scores two second half touchdowns to spoil Albany High's homecoming 27-20 Thursday night at Hugh Mills Stadium.
The Eagles got off to fast start scoring on their first two drives.
Two Derrick Davis passes to Collin Florence led to an eight-yard touchdown run by Desmond Jones for the game's first score.
Davis then threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Florence to give Mitchell County a 14-0 lead.
Eagle turnovers fueled an Albany High rally in the second quarter.
Davis recovered a high snap in the endzone for a safety.
The Indians recovered the next Mitchell County fumble and got a touchdown run from Dontavious Brown to make it 14-8.
A fumble by Davis at the Albany 10-yard line was converted by the Tribe.
Barry Diamond threw a long pass to Rashard Hunt who was tackled at the four.
Calvin Harris scored on the next play to tie the game at 14.
Rashard Hunt then intercepted a Mitchell County pass in the final minute of the first half.
The Indians worked the clock and Diamond threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Jordan with one second in the first half to give Albany High a 20-14 lead.
The Indians could not score in the second half and the Eagles got two scores to win 27-20.
Albany High is 2-5 and 1-3 in 1-AA.
Mitchell County is 1-3 in the region and 2-5.
Albany High is at Early County next week and Mitchell County is at Thomasville.
In the GISA, Terrell Academy easily defeated Dawson Street 55-20 in Hogansville.
Terrell Academy is now 6-1 on the season.
