Lady Cavaliers ready to be tested in Florida

October 16, 2008

Albany - Number one ranked Darton women's soccer is going to tune for the postseason this weekend.

The unbeaten Lady Cavaliers head to Lakeland for matches against two teams ranked in the top five in the country.

Besides Young Harris, there aren't that many national contending teams in the region and coach Ken Veilands wants to toughen up his squad before the region tournament in two weeks.

Ken Veilands said. "I think we are going to come off these games going into our last game playing at a faster pace. So, when the tournament starts we are not going to be in a lull that we have gotten into playing slower pace teams."

Sophomore Rachael McQuade said "It is not a good workout for the girls. That is why we have done postgame conditioning before. We are looking for the good games and we are ready for them."

Darton plays 3rd ranked Schoolcraft Saturday and 5th ranked Polk Community College on Sunday.

Polk Community College beat Darton in the district regional finals last year in Lakeland.
