Sylvester - It is playoff time for high school softball teams with sectional play starting Friday across the state.
The Worth County Rams are ready for the postseason after winning their first outright region fast pitch title.
The Lady Rams won 20 games with four freshmen in the lineup.
Head coach Russ Beard says it seems like someone different steps up to lead his team to victory this season.
Worth County opens sectional play against a Shaw team that beat them by one run in the regular season.
Senior pitcher Keri Hathcock said "Well you know what to expect. The game is going to be a little faster. I think we have a really good chance. Lakyn Saunders said "Winning region really boosted confidence. It makes you feel good. It lets you know you are a good team and work together."
Worth County plays Shaw at 4:00 p.m. Friday in Dublin.
Dublin will also host the Class A South Sectionals.
The AAAAA and AAAA south sectionals are in Lovejoy and the AA softball south sectionals are in Savannah.
The top four teams from each sectional in the north and south advance to the elite eight next week in Columbus.
