Valdosta - Valdosta State head coach Mike Helfer has some rebuilding work to do this preseason with his Blazer basketball team.
Valdosta State held its first full squad workout of the season on Wednesday.
Head coach Mike Helfer has just two starters back from last year's team.
Valdosta State will have ten new players including Ryan Nelson who sat out last year after transferring from Arkansas-Monticello.
The Blazers also added a talented wing player in Tyrone Curnell who was the mid-Florida player of the year and Randolph-Clay's DeAndre Johnson.
Coach Helfer says getting so many new players to become a team is the big challenge for the season tips off in four weeks.
Mike Helfer said "It is really about the development of your players. How fast can they pick up your system? I don't think we are extremely complicated. It is more about playing hard, hustling and doing the little things. Chemistry will play an issue and maybe that becomes a factor. We hope that we have started so far will continue as we get into practice."
Valdosta State men open the season on November 15th against Carver College.
