ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An intoxicated disabled veteran is charged with DUI, but he wasn't driving a car. He was in his wheelchair.

Fifty-nine year old Robert Gibson was spotted September 23rd driving his red Invacare motorized wheelchair across the Colquitt County High School Auditorium parking lot.

The school resource officer found a half gallon bottle of Mr. Boston's Vodka almost empty between Gibson's feet. The officer said Gibson's eyes were blood shot, his speech was slurred, and he admitted to drinking.

A breath test at the jail registered .339. Gibson was taken to Colquitt Regional Hospital where his blood alcohol level registered .405. That's more than five times the legal limit to operate a motorized vehicle.
