Albany--The Chair of the State Board of Education says Georgia's poor SAT scores indicate children are not being prepared for the rigors of college.

Cathy Henson says the low SAT scores show what hasn't been working in education. The Chairwoman told the crowd that the education reforms are impacting children in the lower grades, "We need to remember the SAT indicates where we have been and what hasn't worked in education and the tests in the earlier grades are very positive."

Henson says some of the major reforms are smaller class sizes, early intervention for kids not meeting grade level requirements and certifying teachers in the field.
