Valdosta - Today's race involves politicians, but no elections were decided. It's just for glory and the title of "the fastest mayor."

The park held a "Mayor's Invitational" to celebrate the opening of Wild Adventures' Raceway. Participants included the mayors of Valdosta, Hahira, Lake Park and Remerton.

After five laps of fierce competition, Valdosta Mayor James Rainwater took the trophy.

"I knew that I couldn't let the other mayors get around me because it's hard to pass on that track," said Rainwater. "But I was willing to do some bumping if I needed to."

The Raceway is Wild Adventures 9th ride to open this year.
