ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany business owners say they worry tough economic times could cause an increase in crime.
Many high security businesses like Allen's Jewelers continually watch crime patterns around their store.
The weekend armed robbery of the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts just blocks away concerns owner Steve Allen. And he says Albany business owners worry that more job layoffs and high prices could lead to more crime.
Allen's Jewelers owner Steve Allen said "Oh yea, I talk with a lot of business owners all the time, and we are considerably worried about it. The economy is getting worse and worse. People are trying to make ends meet the best way they can. Unfortunately some people are turning to the wrong ways."
Allen's Jewelers practices a number of security measures, including state of the art alarms and security cameras, and multiple people in the store at all times.
