Blazers face improved Henderson State

October 9, 2008

Valdosta (WALB) - Valdosta State looking to start another winning streak when the Blazers play at Henderson State Saturday afternoon.

Last week's loss to Delta State didn't hurt the Blazers too much. Valdosta State is ranked third in the first NCAA Division II south region poll.

Valdosta State also got some good news in that the NCAA has granted the Blazers a waiver to qualify for the playoffs if they only play nine games.

There is still no decision on whether VSU will make up their game at Southern Arkansas that was postponed due to Hurricane Ike.

VSU coach David Dean says the Blazers still have work to do on the field before they can think about the playoffs.

David Dean said "We can't rely on that. We can't sit back on that. We still have to take care of our business. Right now, we have got it in our hands and we have got to keep it there."

VaVaValdosta State is 8-0 all time against Henderson State.

Game time is 4:00 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on Saturday.
