ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The organization doesn't have a building, and dogs that are turned in or strays picked up are kept in outdoor cages.

The house that provides the cats some shelter has been battered by several storms and downed tree limbs.  The Humane Society is collecting money for a new building and have found a contest that may help, but they need you to vote

It's called The Animal Rescue Site $100,000 Shelter Challenge.

"You have to be the top four in the whole United States, and what we're hoping is to get people to go online and vote, so we can put this $25,000 towards our money we have for our new building to get these animals out of this condition that they're living in right now," says Jackie Grigg of the Lee County Humane Society.

The contest will give away four $25,000 grants.  Lee County Humane Society officials say that would go a long way towards the new building.  So far they've saved $170,000 for the project.
