ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Because more people are looking for jobs, the Georgia Department of Labor is extending its hours of operation.
The Labor Department will now be open five days a week, 10 hours a day.
Employees will be rotated and will work four, 10 hours shifts per week.
Labor Department workers like the change. "We have found that we are more productive on the four hour days plus it does help them in gas savings with just having to come to work four days instead of the five," said Dept. of Labor Asst. Manager Sheilah Holland.
State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said the move was extremely important as we grapple with increasing caseloads and a reduced state budget.
