Valdosta - Valdosta State has had a few extra days to recover from Thursday's tough
double overtime loss to Delta State.
The Blazers recovered from last year's loss to the Statesmen to win a national championship.
While the Blazers no longer control their own destiny in terms of winning the Gulf South Conference championship, they do when it comes to the Division II playoffs.
Valdosta State is ranked third in the first NCAA south regional poll with the top six teams advancing to the playoffs in next month.
David Dean said "Our ultimate aspirations is to win the national championship. That is in our hands. As long as we finish out, we are going to have an opportunity to go to the playoffs. Once we get into the playoffs anything can happen."
Valdosta State plays at Henderson State Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
