ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Jury selection was held Monday in Albany federal court for a Baker County deputy charged with extortion.
Deputy Chad Smith is accused of extorting money from a criminal suspect.
In June, prosecutors say Smith accepted money from Monica Faye Jones of Colquitt County for not turning her in for a probation violation.
Opening statements are expected to begin Tuesday.
