The City of Albany is making plans to use 100 thousand dollars to attract events to the Civic Center. Refinancing debt bonds on the Civic Center will earn the city 529 thousand dollars for next year's budget.

The finance committee recommends that 108 thousand dollars would be used to repair faulty doors at the nearly 20 year old facility, that no longer work.

Another 100 thousand be spent to develop promotions and attract events.

Albany City Manager Janice Allen Jackson said "We're waiting on a promoter to come in to us to bring in an act. And we don't have any seed money to bring in that act. This way we'll be able to serve as co-promoter with other promoters. And to serve as our own promoter, if there is an act we're interested in bringing into town."

The finance committee will recommend 120 thousand dollars of the half million be added to the city's reserves.
