ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Area horse riders saddled up in Dougherty County to raise money that will be used to save hundreds of stray animals in Albany. Equestrians of all ages participated in the Albany Autumn Classic Charity Horse Show.

This is the 18th year the show has been held and organizers say it is the biggest. Riders will compete in several competitions and all of the money raised this year will go to the Albany Humane Society.

"It is a very individual sport. And it is a very mental as well as a physical sport. And ride also to have a good time," said Show Manager, Kelly Fox.

"Our goal is to have the money that is raised here go into our building fund, and we are still working hard. We are going to have a no-kill adoption shelter built here in our community," said Albany Humane Society Director, Donna Strickland.

The competition will continue Sunday with the Hunter Jumpers performance.
