ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Construction on two Habitat for Humanity homes in Albany got underway Friday, on World Habitat day.

More than 20 Albany Tech students, faculty, and staff helped get the two new homes in Woodland Oaks started.

Albany Tech has partnered with the Flint River Habitat for Humanity to build at least one home a year. Students from the school's construction academy will manage the building projects, to learn while helping fill a desperate need.

Albany Tech Dean of Academic Affairs Emmett Griswold said "Especially in this economy, the state it is now, people are in need of homes. People are looking for a decent quality of living."

The Titans basketball team joined the Albany Tech volunteers to help make a difference on World Habitat Day.
