ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Students at Albany High School want to get the word out to their peers and parents to register to vote. Thursday they held a rally and voter registration drive. They say if you don't vote, don't complain.

It's a strong message: Vote or shut up. Students at Albany High School want people to quit being apathetic, or quit complaining.  Keli Dent said, "It's your own fault if you don't vote because your opinion wasn't part of the making of who became President. If you did vote, you can have some say so, but if you didn't vote, it's your opinion that wasn't heard by the nation."

Will Thomas' Government class decided to hold a voter registration and rally to encourage people to vote. It's a right Senior Joshua Ewings believes in so much, he's willing to fight for it. "I love my country," he said.  That love led him to join the National Guard. "As being in the military I feel like it's very important to vote and hopefully change will come along."

A change you can only have part in, if you take part in the vote.  Thomas said, "They are the ones who came up with the slogan saying, 'Vote or Shut up. No vote, No voice' because they always see everybody complaining about what's going on or they don't like who's in office or they don't like this particular tax law.  But if you're not voting, why are you complaining?"

Thomas says every person in his class 17 and a half and older is registered to vote, and ready to express their voice in the upcoming election. The deadline to register to vote in the General Election is Monday, October 6th.
