Albany - The first of October means college basketball is just around the corner.
The Darton College Lady Cavaliers hit the practice court for the first time this season on Wednesday.
Head coach Laura Blackwell is excited about her team with four sophomores returning.
Two of whom were starters last year and the other two saw plenty of playing time.
Add that experience with a talented freshman class that includes Terrell County's Monshay Thomas, Cairo's Ashley Holt, Colquitt County's Tiffany Troupe and Randolph-Southern guard Samantha Worthy.
Coach Blackwell hopes it will not take long for this team to come together.
Laura Blackwell said "They didn't realize they are all the best players. They have to realize that on this level. That we are recruiting the best. Now we have 11 of the best. So, they are going to have to mix in together."
Darton opens the 2008-2009 season with the annual Darton College Classic on October 31st-November 1st at Cavalier Arena.
