State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond visited Valdosta Monday to help celebrate the groundbreaking of a new Career Center.
The $4.3 million center will be completely funded by the city. The state Labor Department will then lease the building from the city until it is paid for.
Thurmond says the state-of-the-art career center will bring over 50 jobs to Valdosta.
"Of the 53 career centers that we have across Georgia, this will be the finest, most technologically advanced center in the state," said Thurmond.
The site for the new career center is located at the corner of south Ashley and Crane streets.
