DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - One South Georgia county is getting a new tool to help fight rising unemployment. Georgia's Labor Commissioner was on hand Monday to dedicate the new Career Center in Douglas.

The 14,000 square foot facility is three times bigger than their old building. And it includes three new training rooms and a business center where employers can interview clients and conduct group meetings.

"Well these are challenging economic times, but we suggest and always let people know that though it is difficult, it is not impossible to find a new job. Come to your local career center," said Georgia Labor Commissioner, Michael Thurmond

"We help people seek jobs. We also do career counseling for them," said Douglas Career Center Manager, Alfalene Walker.

The hours at the new Career Center in Douglas will be extended from 7:30am to 5:00pm to assist more customers.
