VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Investigators released gruesome details Tuesday about the murder of a Valdosta man.

43-year-old Milton Jones died Monday morning.

He was brought to the emergency room after being shot five times.

He also had several stab wounds and his throat was slit.

Investigators say a passer-by found him barely alive in Payton Park Sunday night.

They say they are following numerous leads and they believe Jones knew the people who killed him.

"There were extensive injuries. I do not believe this was a random crime. There's nothing to prove that 100% but because of the extent of the injuries, it appears this person or persons possibly knew the victim," says Lt. Bobbi McGraw with the Valdosta Police.

Police are offering a reward for any information in the case.

Tipsters can remain anonymous.  The tip line is 229-293-3091.
