ALBANY, GA (WALB) - High School students got a lesson in voting rights from the Albany Young Lawyers Division.

That group presented a program called "Vote America. Honor the Fight, Exercise Your Right" to seniors at Westover High School and Albany High School.

One speaker at Westover High was Judge Denise Marshall, an alumnus of the school.   The lawyers want to educate the students about their right to vote, and the struggles others went through to guarantee their right to have their voices heard.

"What we are trying to accomplish to get the kids informed.  And hopefully it will snow ball, and lead over into their families, their parents, and other family members will get involved," Tommy Duck of the Albany Young Lawyers.

Tuesday, the voter education program will be presented at Dougherty and Monroe Highs.  Each Dougherty County high school will hear from an alumnus of that school who has gone on to become an attorney.
