ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A puddle of blood and a plastic tarp lays where the body of 58-year-old Tommy Wayne Giles was found. The property owner told us that one of his farm aids made the gruesome discovery at 3:45 PM Saturday afternoon in the wooded area just of Roby Reeves Road.

The employee was working in a neighboring peanut field when he saw the driver of a truck stop there and dump what he thought was trash. When he later went to check it out, he found Giles body in a bag.

"It's a pretty scary thing to know that something like this can happen so close to home," said Justin Gregory.

There were numbered cones and two pairs of rubber gloves from when the GBI and Turner County Sheriff department worked the scene. But they remain tight-lipped about their investigation.

"I seen a bunch of cops, but didn't know anything about it. We drove by and saw the cops," said Jeremy Keen.

Investigators are treating this as a homicide, but are not saying how Giles was killed. And now those who live nearby are concerned. "I mean it really shocked me. It's very heartbreaking," said Gregory.

And they hope that officers arrest who ever is responsible for the death of this Worth County man. Giles' body will be taken to the crime lab in Macon Monday morning for an autopsy.
