October 1, 2008 37-15, 19-6, 56-21
We have reached October and the temperature is starting to drop with fall in the air. The action is about to heat up on the high school gridiron. What a week of games we have with Cairo visiting Worth County, Cook at Fitzgerald and I hear there is a game between Northside-Warner Robins and Lowndes. As for the old expert, I was 19-6 last week and in three weeks I have a 56-21 record. Lets go.
Northside-W.R. at Lowndes: Let's start with the big one. These two teams have combined for five state titles and 54 straight wins. The Eagles struggled on the road at Carver-Columbus a few weeks back and the Vikings needed not one but two Greg Reid fumble returns to beat Tift County last week. I actually heard a Tift County radio announcer say Lowndes without a Greg Reid is an average football team. I am sure Florida is average team without Tim Tebow. The point is the Vikings do have Greg Reid and he will be the difference....Lowndes 27-21
Valdosta at Colquitt Co.: The Wildcats and Packers are 0-2 in the region after both starting the season 3-0. The loser of this game is in real trouble when it comes to the playoffs..Valdosta 35-14
Tift Co. at Houston Co.: The Blue Devils are blue because they beat themselves last week against the #1 Vikings. The challenge for Tift is to realize the season is a long way from being over and Houston County is a much improved football team. Hangover alert...Tift Co. 14-13
Coffee at Warner Robins (Saturday): The unbeaten Trojans head to Warner Robins to face a Demon team that has a tough defense...Coffee 21-20
Americus-Sumter at Thomas Co. Central: The Jackets offense is on a roll after a slow start and that is bad news for the Panthers who have played TCC tough in recent years....
Thomas County Central 38-12
Bainbridge at Jones Co.: The Bearcats gave #1 Westside-Macon a fight before the Seminoles pulled away in the stretch. Greyhounds offense can score some points...Bainbridge 27-22
Lee Co. at Westside-Macon: The winless Trojans cannot catch a break...Westside 34-7
Cairo at Worth Co.: All eyes will be on Valdosta but this battle in Sylvester could be just a big. Everyone knows how good the Syrupmakers are but the Rams have a tough defense and have had two weeks to get ready....Cairo 20-14
Crisp Co. at Perry: The Cougars are in search for their third straight region win against a Panther team that likes to spread the field...Crisp Co. 22-21
Monroe at Peach Co.: The road isn't any easier for the Tornadoes who hung tough last week at Cairo. Winning in Fort Valley is almost impossible...Peach Co. 14-7
Westover at Dougherty(Saturday): The Patriots are their own worst enemy after an offside penalty on 4th and goal at the Crisp County one cost them a big region game. The Trojans have had two weeks to recover from a beating at Worth County. Both teams have plenty of speed at the skill position....Westover 34-33
Berrien at Albany: Rebels coach Ryan Branch has his team off to 3-0-1 start and Berrien is winning close games late. Albany High will give Berrien a fight but the Rebels magic continues for another week..Berrien 25-22
Mitchell Co. at Brooks Co.: The Trojans are back in Quitman to host an Eagle team that is trying to get the license tag of the Hurricane that blew through Camilla last week..Brooks Co. 35-18
Thomasville at Early Co: You could probably win some money from fans who would refuse to believe both of these teams are 0-4. Bulldogs though are the best 0-4 team in the state.......Thomasville 19-13
Cook at Fitzgerald: The Hornets fly into Fitzgerald ready to battle the Purple Hurricanes who have been impressive every week...Fitzgerald 34-27
Atkinson Co. at Lanier Co.: The Bulldogs are back at the Lakeland pound ready for a rival game against the Atcos...Lanier Co. 26-12
Bacon Co. at Clinch Co.: The Panthers got a suprisingly tough fight last week from Terrell County while the Raiders are still looking for their first win....Clinch Co. 44-18
Calhoun Co. at Seminole Co.: The Indians finally got their first win of the season while the Cougars were stuffed at home...Seminole Co. 22-18
Wilkinson Co. at Randolph-Clay: This game is always great in basketball and the gridiron version could be just as entertaining..Randolph-Clay 29-27
Miller Co. at Terrell Co.: The Pirates are unbeaten while Terrell County is 3-2 but one of those losses was to AAA Monroe and they gave Clinch County a battle in the other loss. Greenwave get better each season but I don't know if they are there yet...Miller County 34-29
Hawkinsville at Irwin Co: Two very good teams who are both having tough luck getting wins..Irwins Co. 18-14
Wilcox Co. at Telfair Co.: I hope the scoreboard has enough power because these two offenses will give it a workout in McRae...Wilcox Co. 52-26
Twiggs Co. at Turner Co.: The Rebels air show faces a dangerous group of Cobras who are still trying to catch their breath from last week's game in Rochelle..Turner Co. 27-20
Piedmont at Deerfield-Windsor: Dorothy made it home in the "Wizard of Oz" and the Knights are ready for homecomign..Deerfield-Windsor 36-19
Westwood at Brookwood: This game used to be a big rivalry but the Wildcats are Class A and the Warriors are AA..Brookwood 46-20
Sherwood Christian at Windsor: Region opener for the Knights who get a Windsor team that has been ranked number one this season... Windsor 34-30
Tiftarea at Southwest Georgia: The Panthers haven't lost a game since week one but somehow have lost their top ranking. Tiftarea 27-26
Valwood at Fullington: The rebuilding Valiants face a Trojan team that is getting better...Valwood 20-12
David Emanuel at Crisp Academy: The Wildcats search for a win continues for another week..David Emanuel 27-14
Randolph-Southern at Aucilla Christian: Patriots travel to Monticello where I think they will get a win...Randolph-Southern 27-15
Terrell Academy at Central Fellowship (Saturday): The Eagles head to Macon for a battle with the Lancers...Terrell Academy 37-25
