ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany will join the nation to help researchers fight blood cancers. One Albany college has already raised thousands of dollars.
Light the Night is an annual walk that raises money for research to develop better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Albany Technical College has already raised more than four thousand dollars.
The college president knows first-hand how important this money is. "Light the Night is a very important issue for me. I've been fortunate enough to benefit from the research with blood cancers and lymphomas etc. So this is definitely something that is near and dear to my heart," said Dr. Anthony Parker.
Last year Albany raised 120,000 dollars for Luekiemia and Lymphoma research. Light the Night will be held Friday at the Parks at Chehaw.
