Teachers and parents have new resources to help kids deal with major issues such as bullying, depression, and obesity. Now kids and educators have the power to make a difference. Officials with Phoebe's Network of Trust highlighted those resources at a special luncheon Wednesday.More >>
ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Credit counselors are taking a page from Wall Street and telling their clients to learn from the mistakes made by financial giants. They want you to monitor your household budget closely.
If you don't, you could fall deep into debt, and the government won't be there to bail you out.
Counselors say a lot more people are relying on credit cards to pay for food and gas to make ends meet. But they say you should always think about how you plan to pay those expenses back.
"How are you going to pay it back off? Whatever minimum balance you have, pay that minimum balance. Try to pay your payments on time because we are getting hit at is those interest fees and late charges. And believe it or not, it adds up," said Cassandra Miller of the We Care Alliance.
Counselors say people should seek help as soon as they start to see their bills getting out of control to prevent further damage to their credit history.
