VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Thirty-nine -year-old Michael Wayne Dixon was found hanging in his cell around 6:30 Wednesday evening.

Earlier in the day, Dixon asked to make a phone call, and when officers went to get him, they and found him hanging in his cell.

Dixon had been in the Lowndes County Jail since May for armed robbery and aggravated assault of a police officer.

The GBI is investigating the suspected suicide.
