Dougherty County Middle School students are grieving today after a student commits suicide.

12-year-old Michelle Harvey, an eight grader at Robert Cross Middle School, killed herself around ten last night.

The suicide happened inside her home at 915 Peacock Drive in Albany. Harvey's friends were shocked at the news. Her friend, Aaron Cole, says, "At school we had counseling and there were a lot of people who cried, including myself, because it really messed with me...and really hurt me."Cole says Harvey was a happy girl and was always smiling.

Robert Cross Middle School Assistant Principal Willie Jackson says they brought in at least a dozen counselors and psychologist this morning to help students cope.

Right now, Albany Police will not release how she committed suicide.
