My first week of picks was a respectable 16-9 record. I had Albany and Monroe winning on the road but Turner County and Berrien tripped me up with road wins. The schedule this week is light with most 1-AA schools taking a bye week before region play starts next week but the 1-AAAAA schedule starts with four big games. Here we go.
Colquitt County at Lowndes: The Packers are an improved team under head coach Rush Propst who will have a surprise or two for the number one Vikings. Lowndes is used to such tricks however...Lowndes 38-17
Houston Co. at Coffee: The Bears have bounced back after a miserable 2007 season while the Trojans have not allowed a point and they have played two very good non-region teams in Ware County and Shaw..Coffee 22-8
Valdosta at Northside-Warner Robins- The nation's winningest high school program is on the road for their region opener against one of the state's best this decade. The Wildcats had a wake up call with their close win over Jonesobor while the Eagles barely escaped Columbus with their 33 game winning streak..Northside 15-14
Warner Robins at Tift County - The Blue Devils took out their frustrations on Cook while the Demon Deacons have one non-region loss to Grayson... Tift County 28-22
Bainbridge at Harris Co. - The Bearcats make a long bus trip up U.S 27 to play the Harris County Tigers. Bainbridge is still a work in progress under first year head coach Ed Pilcher but I believe they have enough for a road win..Bainbridge 25-13
Hardaway at Lee Co. - My alma mater is looking to go 2-0 in the 1-AAAA while Lee County needs a win in the worst kind of way. Trojans hung tough at Bainbirdge and I thnk home field will be to their advantage..Lee County 19-14
Perry at Westover(Thursday): The unbeaten Patriots have plenty of speed at the skill positions but inconsistent play is a concern. Perry found its stride in the second half last week at Hawkisnville... Westover 26-24
Dougherty at Worth Co: The Trojans showed they too have some weapons at receiver and Felton Walls is a playmaker under center. Worth County though is not going to be in a good mood after the Fitzgerald game.. Worth County 24-18
Crisp Co. at Monroe: The Tornadoes have yet to give up a point while the Cougars are coming off a home loss to Turner County. Crisp County's passing game has given Monroe trouble in the past... Crisp County 20-19
Turner Co. at Brooks Co: The Trojans have had two weeks to put the Tift County game in the rear view mirror. They better because Turner County is on a roll after their win at Crisp County last week..Brooks County 36-32
Miller Co. at Atkinson Co: The east side of the region is at home and the winless Atcos continue to struggle against the mighty Pirates...Miller County 33-8
Calhoun Co. at Bacon Co.: Another long trip for the Cougars but I believe they have some much needed confidence after last week's home win..Calhoun County 29-25
Seminole Co. at Clinch Co.: This game used to be for the region title but the rebuilding Indians search for their first win continues next week... Clinch County 48-12
Terrell Co. at Lanier Co.: This is a big game for two teams that are 2-1 and both wanting playoff berths. I like the Bulldogs at home..Lanier County 19-16
Randolph-Clay at Pelham: Two teams who both need a win especially the Hornets. I think the streak finally ends this week... Pelham 13-12
Dooly Co. at Warren Co: The Bobcats have struggled early but a long trip to Warrenton might be just what Dooly needs.. Dooly County 27-15
Irwin Co. at Portal: Both teams are 0-3 but Irwin County has faced better competition...Irwin County 36-6
Bryan County at Wilcox County: The unbeaten Patriots welcome the winless Redskins to Rochelle.. Wilcox County 43-13
Greenville at Schley County: This is a key battle in region 4-A. The Wildcats have plenty of offense and are at home..Schley County 27-22
Webster Co. at Pacelli: The search for a first win continues for Webster County..Pacelli 36-16
Deerfield-Winsdor at Pinewood Christian: The road weary Knights face another long bus trip this time to Belville where Pinewood is always ready to play. Deerfield-Windsor 20-19
Brookwood at Southwest Georgia: The Warriors from Thomasville should not be in a good mood after last week's loss at Tiftrea while the Warriors from Damascus may have a score to settle with their former region rival... Brookwood 32-24
Stratford at Southland: The Eagles are unbeaten and the Raiders have won two of three.. Stratford may be the team everyone is chasing in December...Stratford 28-14
Sherwood Christian at Westwood: The Eagles put up a good right shorthanded while the Wildcats got a much needed win... Westwood 28-27
Flint River at Tiftarea: Panthers win over Brookwood moved them to number two in the coaches poll. The Wildcats are number three. Tiftarea lives up to the ranking...33-20
Windsor at Terrell Academy: Windsor is ranked number one in AA and Terrell Academy is a legitimate state title contender in Class A. If Keaton Icard can go for Terrell Academy, I think the Eagles fly to a win ...Terrell Academy 20-16
Crisp Academy at Covenant: The winless Wildcats face a challenge from a 2-1 Covenant team. Covenant 15-13
Dawson Street at Randolph-Southern: The Patriots are at home to face a very athletic Dawson Street squad... Randolph-Southern 22-21
