ALBANY, GA (WALB) - 25 year old Quantravious Upshaw was allowed to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the shooting death of 41 year old Terrence Bowen.

Bowen was gunned down outside J.C.Penney at theAlbany Mall in May, 2007. Upshaw said he and Bowen were fighting and he dropped his gun and it discharged.

Upshaw was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Had he been convicted of murder, he would have automatically gotten life.
