Registration for fall semester at Darton College starts tomorrow, with classes getting underway Wednesday. Darton College is expected to have an increase in enrollment of between 3 to 5 percent.
Today Darton President Dr. Peter Sireno gave a state of the college assesment to the school's faculity and staff. There are 40 new staff members at Darton, anticipating an enrollment of 35-hundred students. That is based on pre-registration figures.
Dr. Sireno said despite budget cuts, he plans to push ahead with plans to bring on campus housing to Darton by 2004. "This will provide a home for some students who would not have anywhere else to go under the semester system."
Darton College hopes the increased enrollment for the fall, will help offset the 5 percent budget cut ordered by the state last year. Darton's annual budget is 11 million dollars.
