ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Southwest Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross won't be sending supplies west, but they're hoping to drum up some financing support for Texans who lost everything in the storm.
Representatives for the American Red Cross say the organization is in desperate need of monetary donations. The say both on a local level and on a national level donations have dwindled with the recent economic downtown.
"The coffers are very low and we're asking people to make donations to the National Disaster relief Fund which they can do online, they can go to www.redcross.org and do it online or they can send a check here to our chapter," said Mari McEwen, Southwest Georgia American Red Cross Director.
If you want your donation to go towards the National Hurricane Relief Effort you must mark it that way in the memo section of your check. Red Cross representative say blood supplies are also critical during the time of a national disaster. To send a donation to the American Red Cross you can drop it off or mail it to 500 Pine Avenue, Albany, GA 31701.
