Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno are used to being big men on campus in Athens. They will certainly receive plenty of the usual attention this week as well, but they might want to make room for another guy who is certain to receive plenty of praise from Georgia fans this week.
Georgia was just able to escape out of South Carolina with a 14-7 win Saturday. A large part due to a 4th quarter punt by Brian Mimbs.
With 8 minutes to play Mimbs punted from the Georgia 12 and for 77 yards setting the Gamecocks up at the South Carolina 11 yard line. 77 yards marked a career best for Mimbs.
Coach Richt says that the punt may have saved the game for the Bulldogs.
"After Mimbs bombed it as far as he did I was like that's the game right there. But again 1st play they get the ball down to midfield and all of a sudden you're getting tight again. But thankfully Mimbs punted them deep enough where they had to go the long field. Anything else and they probably would have scored a touchdown we'd probably be in overtime right now" said Richt.
Georgia will play at Arizona State on Saturday.Feedback
