ALBANY, GA (WALB) - High Tech tourism was the topic of the day as the Governor's Tourism Conference continued for a second day in Albany.

The three-day conference brought more than 300 people to Albany. It ends Friday with an address from Governor Sonny Perdue. Thursday the state unveiled its newly reorganized tourism website, www.ExploreGeorgia.org. Online and high-tech appears to be the way tourists are headed.

More tourists now look for vacation destinations online and new technology can help them get around once they pick a destination. Cities including Columbus and Brunswick now have mobile sites that send information via the internet that's compatible with your cell phone.

"Now I can look up my hotel, I can look up restaurants, I can find shopping, attractions, I can get directions to them so here you have a little concierge in your pocket and the part that I really like is now you can get special offers," said Franci Edgerly, ITI Marketing CEO & President.

Those offers could be for hotels or other tourist destinations or coupons for local restaurant.
