The first City of Excellence banner was unfurled in downtown Albany.

Albany is one of ten Georgia cities to earn the "City of Excellence" designation. Now, these blue and white banners will hang at selected spots across the city.

Tommy Coleman says, "Obviously these banners we hope will show our pride in the community and our enthusiasm for a life we are trying to develop in Albany and Dougherty County."

To be labeled a "City of Excellence", Albany had to meet 14 criteria. Chamber President Tim Martin says Albany scored higher than any other city.
